Community Support

The Community Services Board collects non-perishable foods and hygiene items to distribute weekly to the local rescue mission and homeless shelter. Donations can be placed in one of the collection boxes placed near the Preschool office, each Day School classroom, and in the Narthex.

The CSB suggests the following items for donation:

January: canned or dry milk and dry cereal, and razors and shaving cream

February/March/April: a ‘potluck’ donation of the things we collect over the year (peanut butter, jelly, cereal, powdered or canned milk, soup, etc.; toothpaste and tooth brushes, bar soap, shaving cream and razors, diapers and wipes, etc.).

May: canned fruit and vegetables, and combs and brushes

June: spaghetti sauce and pasta

July: baby formula, baby food and diapers

August: peanut butter and jelly, and toothbrushes and toothpaste

September: canned soup and stew, and shampoo and bar soap

October: canned or dry milk and dry cereal, and razors and shaving cream

November: items for holiday dinners (broth, canned cranberries, canned fruit cocktail and apple sauce, Jiffy bread mixes, instant potatoes, boxed stuffing, canned corn, beans and olives, instant and canned gravy, and canned yams)

Funds will be collected for pies, and for gift food certificates of $20.00 to be given to seniors who can not use a full turkey meal.

December: items for holiday dinners (broth, canned cranberries, canned fruit cocktail and apple sauce, Jiffy bread mixes, instant potatoes, boxed stuffing, canned corn, beans and olives, instant and canned gravy, and canned yams)

The Homeless Shelter has had more families than usual, and has expressed a need for diapers and baby wipes. Donations of these items will be delivered there.
